Examples of Conferences, Seminars & Meetings

While, in our experience, every event has unique requirements—there are some tactical commonalities among events in this category. We offer the examples below to inspire your planning and give you a sense of the possibilities. Take a quick look, and then please contact us to discuss your particular event and how the Anchorage Convention Centers can help make it successful.

SCENARIO:  A Major Professional Conference

A professional event, hosting 2,000 delegates, took place over a five-day period. Opening and closing plenary sessions utilized the three Tubughnenq’ Meeting Rooms in the Dena’ina Center for one half-day each on Day 1 and 3, with amplification and lighting setups. Egan’s Summit Hall was configured for 10 classrooms where workshops were held during the course of Days 2 and 3. An opening night cocktail mixer was hosted in the Dena’ina Center’s Tikahtnu Ballroom and Terrace, and an all-attendee banquet was held in the Ballroom on Day 2. Additionally, WiFi access was provided to attendees throughout the weekend.

We have hosted events like this recently, including the Bureau of Indian Affairs “Providers Conference” and the Indigenous Peoples’ Global Summit on Climate Change.

SCENARIO:  A Weekend Seminar or Workshop

A group of 50 tenured professionals needed training and certification in a new technological field. The K’enakatnu Executive Boardroom, complete with built-in ceiling-mounted projectors, wall screens and power/data outlets in walls and floors, was configured into the perfect classroom—and WiFi access was made available to attendees throughout the facility.

Along similar lines, we’ve recently hosted the Alaska Forum on the Environment and the National Association of Postmasters of the United States, among others.

SCENARIO:  A Local Organization Meeting

Seating for 20 to 200 people was arranged in 12-person tables throughout the two Kahtnu Meeting Rooms. A delicious lunch service was provided by Savor…Alaska and the state-of-the-art sound system allowed the keynote speaker to get the week’s message out clearly to everyone. The same type of meeting could also take place in Explorers or Summit Halls at the Egan.

We’re proud to host the Anchorage Downtown Rotary, the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce “Make It Monday” Forum luncheons, and many more.

Let’s talk

If you think our facilities could be a good fit for your event (and we believe they are for most), we’d be honored if you contact us to discuss the details.

Longer-term (1 year out and more) and national events are generally coordinated through Visit Anchorage, while shorter-term events are booked and managed by our in-house event staff. The first step is to get in touch.
